Learn how to keep your paper-based collection (archive, library, art on paper) safe, secure and preserved for the future.
(Note that this course is presented in association with the one-day course ‘Preserving Paper Collections Part 2’. The courses are designed as a seamless whole with Part 1 aimed more at the management and preservation of paper-based collections and Part 2 looking more at the conservation of paper-based materials. Participants can choose one course that meets their needs, or attend both for a broader experience.)

Learning outcomes
- Develop a basic understanding of the manufacture and deterioration of paper
- Understand the preservation issues facing paper-based collections
- Understand how to plan and priorities the preservation of paper-based collections
- Know the best ways of packaging, handling, copying, storing and transporting paper items
- Experience some basic paper conservation procedures
